Dan Baldwin: Apocalypse Wow! at The Art House, Alnwick

(PRWeb) February 22, 2007 -- The exhibition is on view at The Art House where they are thrilled to present new originals, ceramics and his full collection of prints all bearing Baldwin's trademark motifs inspired by the 17th Century Vanitas movement: skulls, birds, guns and flowers.

Baldwin's work explores the beautiful and sinister and presents these opposing elements in pop candy colors; attracting the viewer yet creating a subtle unease.

Dan and his work have appeared on BBC2's The Apprentice, Elle Decoration, Dazed and Confused, ID, Vogue and the Observer Magazine.

Dan Baldwin graduated from Maidstone School of Art and has since exhibited widely across the UK and Europe in the last ten years in Brighton, Newcastle, New York, Paris, Cologne and in the windows of London's Selfridges.

Baldwin has also donated work to two Red Cross charity auctions, where his work sold alongside that of Peter Blake, Billy Childish and Tracey Emin.

Damien Hirst recently picked up one of Baldwin's handpainted vases at a gallery in London.

Dan Baldwin is one of the Brighton Young Things, alongside Antony Micallef whose work recently fetched record prices at Sotheby's auction house.

Dan Baldwin's latest prints, Holy F#@k and Divine Revelation -- Yellow are also on show at The Art House. Both prints are from a signed limited edition of 50. Holy F$%k features real bullet holes on the surface of the print, plus elements of a dollar bill and a cigarette butt. Baldwin's new prints are priced at £300 each.
